Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, the slip-coated surface brush-decorated with a large flowering plant bearing five blossoms. Freehand cobalt 6" at shoulder. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A thin 4" crack from rim on front. Some faint lines to shoulder on reverse. A small base chip on reverse. H 16".
