Three-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, probably Henry Remmey, Jr., Philadelphia, PA, circa 1860, cylindrical cooler with footed base, tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, the base fashioned with a circular bunghole; front and reverse decorated with a brushed stem bearing fan-shaped flowers. Cobalt highlights around bunghole and accenting the handle terminals, along with a curving line of cobalt below each handle. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing chip to bottom edge. Several small rim chips. A faint 3/4" surface line from rim on side of cooler. A 3" in-the-firing surface crack descending from interior of rim, partially visible on exterior. A minuscule nick to bunghole. Water glass staining to interior. H 14 1/2".
