Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, tooled accents to upper body, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a stem bearing five large flower blossoms, applied over a slip-coated surface. Slip-trailed underscored "3" at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Crazing and thin cracks to bottom half of jar, some extending to underside. Drips of staining to reverse. H 13 1/4".
