Very Rare Stoneware Harvest Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. WEAVER," Beaver, PA, circa 1865, ovoid form with disk-shaped finial, two applied pouring spouts, and arched handle with depressed terminals; decorated on the front and reverse with wreath-like floral motifs below the spouts. Brushed cobalt bands around the bases of the spouts and highlights to the handle terminals. Impressed on one side with J. Weaver maker's mark. Few signed harvest jugs made east of the state of Ohio are known. A large Y-shaped crack below maker's mark on front, part of which extends horizontally onto the left side of the jug and another part of which extends onto underside where it forms a T. A 4 1/2" vertical hairline on side of jug, crossing through the Y-shaped crack, including a small chip at the juncture of the crack and line. H 12".
