Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON. / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a bird with paddle-shaped tail, perched on a leafy vine. This example features an unusual rendering of the bird's beak. A 6 3/4" vertical line to side of jug beside an in-the-firing ping. A small chip and tiny line to top of spout. A chip and tiny nick to top of spout. H 14 1/4".
