Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Butterfly Decoration, attributed to Julius Norton, Bennington, VT, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed design of a butterfly with long antennae. Cobalt highlight to capacity mark. Minor chipping to spout. A 5/8" in-the-firing surface chip (contact mark) near midsection. H 14".
