Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Inkstand, German origin, 18th or 19th century, slab-built form with pierced-work floral motif flanked incised tulips around the body, the pen tray with pierced-work foliate decoration. Impressed circular decoration throughout and molded and applied spiraling studs to pen tray, body of stand, and serving as feet on underside. Includes original well and sander. Profuse cobalt highlights throughout under a clear salt glaze. Well with heavy chipping to rim and small chips to its base. Sander with base chips. Edge chips and some corner chips to inkstand. A few hairlines to top of inkstand, emanating from the carved openings. L 4 3/4" ; W 3 1/4" ; H 2 3/4".
