Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, possibly John Remmey III, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted floral design featuring a bud flanked by splayed leaves. Unusual incised circle treatment within decoration. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Crazing throughout most of surface, possibly in-the-firing. One side with professional restoration to rim, some of which descends onto shoulder area and includes some touch-up to cobalt. Wear to interior of rim. Heavy chipping to foot. H 13 3/4".
