Large-Sized Stoneware Sculpture of a Man's Bust, Midwestern origin, late 19th century, hand-modeled sculpture of a man with incised eyebrows and hat with upturned brim atop a circular slab base. Surface of figure's head coated in a whitish slip, the base with light salt glazing. Provenance: George H. Meyer Collection; Acquired from David Good. A large section of hat brim on reverse / proper right side was broken off, reglued, and colored. Otherwise as-made condition with in-the-firing fissures to surface and an in-the-firing chip to underside. H 10" ; L 7 1/2" ; W 7 1/2".
