Four Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, American, 19th century, all of ovoid form, a one-gallon jar with brushed floral motif on the front and reverse, possibly Gilson & Co., Reading, PA, circa 1840; a one-gallon jar with brushed clover motif, Baltimore, MD origin, late 19th century; a one-and-a-half-gallon jar with stylized slip-trailed floral motif on the front, attributed to Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, circa 1840; and a two-gallon jar with cobalt highlights, stamped "GOODWIN / & / WEBSTER," Hartford, CT origin, early 19th century. One-gallon jar, possibly Gilson, with rim chips, a small base chip, and water glass staining. One-gallon Baltimore jar with bloated spots to surface, some burst. One-and-a-half-gallon jar with a 4" diagonal crack from rim on side of jar, including a narrow flake at rim. Goodwin & Webster jar with a large rim chip on reverse, a small chip and minor nicks to bottom edge, a glazed-over iron ping near base, some blackish residue from use to proper left handle and some in-the-firing salt residue below. H (of tallest) 12 1/2".
