Four Stoneware Jugs with Cobalt Bird Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1875, all of cylindrical form with various bird-on-branch motifs, a one-gallon jug, stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON VT.;" a two-gallon jug, stamped "HAXSTUN & CO / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.;" a two-gallon jug, stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD N. Y.;" and a two-gallon jug, stamped "WHITE'S UTICA," NY State origin. Norton jug with significant crack from spout on reverse. White's jug with salt drips and significant crazing to surface, a small spout chip, an in-the-firing lime ping to handle, and in-the-firing surface flaws. Haxstun & Co. jug with significant staining and two small in-the-firing base chips. Haxstun, Ottman & Co. jug with a long crack on proper left side of jug extending onto underside, an in-the-firing iron ping to reverse, a small amount of white paint residue to proper right side, and a burn to decoration on front.
