Manganese-Decorated Redware Ring Flask, New England origin, second quarter 19th century, hollow, ring-shaped form with applied spout, the surface decorated with heavily-sponged manganese over a mottled green-and-orange ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. Provenance: Ex-Sam Forsythe. Professional restoration to most or all of spout. Otherwise excellent condition with some accidental traces of varnish to shoulder of jug near restored spout and a small, in-the-firing surface chip (contact mark) to interior edge of ring. L 9 1/2".
