Half-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "H.C. SMITH / ALEXA / D.C.," Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA, circa 1830, finely-potted, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and semi-rounded rim, impressed with the mark of Wilkes Street Pottery owner, Hugh Charles Smith, below a half-gallon capacity mark. Provenance: From a forty-five-year VA collection. Chipping to molding below rim. H 7 3/8".
