Extremely Rare Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Harvest Jug with White-Slip Floral Decoration, attributed to the Hissong Family, Cassville, PA, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid form with opposing applied tubular spouts at the shoulder and arched handle across top, the surface dipped in glossy, dark-brown Albany slip and brush-decorated in white slip on two sides with a flowering vine in the Hissong style. Exceptional form and distinctive glaze treatment associated with this family's production. The first Hissong harvest jug that we have offered. Very nice condition with some light surface wear, two minor chips to one spout, and one minor chip to opposing spout. H 11 1/2".
