Monumental Ten-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "D S," Daniel Seagle, Lincoln County, NC, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and applied pocket handles with beaded edge, the surface covered in a mottled olive-green alkaline glaze with darker runs descending from the handles. Impressed "D S" on one handle and "10" on opposing handle. A shallow 1 3/4" chip to one handle and small chip to same handle. Three shallow chips to opposing handle. One small rim chip. H 17 3/4".
