Glazed Redware Canning Jar, Greene County, TN origin, mid to late 19th century, semi-ovoid jar with flaring, flattened rim designed to hold a lid, the surface covered in a streaky orange-to-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Provenance: Maxine Russell Estate, Greeneville, TN. Rim with wear and two small chips. Shallow chipping and wear to interior of rim. Chipping around bottom edge. H 7 3/4".
