Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Bird Motif, attributed to the Hilton Pottery, Catawba County, NC, circa 1940, squat-shaped, ovoid pitcher with flared rim, decorated with a multi-colored design of a bluebird carrying a twig in its beak against a cream-colored ground. Provenance: Ex-Salley Cathey, former owner of Blue Ridge Weavers, Tryon, North Carolina, who purchased it from Mrs. Hilton in the 1950s; Brunk Auctions, Asheville, NC, Jan. 8, 2005, lot 132. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 3 1/8".
