Four-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped Four Times "A. DEHAVEN / MIDDLEBURY / OHIO," mid 19th century, ovoid jar with squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a freehand "4" on the reverse and cobalt highlights to the maker's mark and handle terminals. Includes heavily-tooled salt-glazed lid. Jar in excellent condition with some wear to inner rim for lid and a Lid with a 2" chip and some additional small chips and wear. Some minor in-the-firing fissures to underside, not visible on interior. A minor in-the-firing base chip. H (including lid) 14 3/4".
