Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Abstract Cobalt Decoration, attributed to Somerset Potters Works, Somerset, MA, circa 1870, ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection and tall, heavily-tooled rim, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of leaves flanking a looping line motif. Slip-trailed vine decoration above. Freehand stripes to spout and dashes to rim. Wear to rim. Some light surface wear to front and an in-the-firing dry spot with some crawling to slip on decoration. A minor rim chip. H 13 1/4".
