Very Rare Stoneware Jug with White-Slip Foliate Decoration, attributed to the Mottern Pottery, Carter County, TN, circa 1880-1890, ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated in slip-trailed white slip with a distinctive pine tree motif emanating from a scrolled base. Salt-glazed surface. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Part One, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Provenance: Found in Bristol, TN. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing unglazed area including crazing, located at the base area/underside. H 8".
