Manganese-Decorated Redware Pitcher, New England origin, probably Bristol County, MA, late 18th or early 19th century, highly-ovoid form with footed base, short collar, and semi-rounded rim, the shoulder decorated with wavy incised combing between two straight incised lines. Splashed manganese decoration to upper half of pitcher and handle under a heavy lead glaze. Wear to rim and spout. Two adjacent rim chips, measuring a total of 1 5/8". Spider crack in underside extending partway up body of pitcher in two places. Glaze flakes to front. Some additional light surface wear. H 7 1/2".
