Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to M.J. Porter & Co., Luthersburg, Clearfield County, PA, circa 1853, ovoid jar with tall collar and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a large tulip motif on the body and two dashes on the collar. Heavy salt glaze to surface. Made at the pottery of Moses and William Porter. Very nice condition with an in-the-firing flake to base on front and a very minor chip and piece of adhered clay to base on reverse. H 11 1/2".
