×Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "W A," possibly William Amoss, Baltimore, MD, circa 1820, cylindrical jar with footed base, rounded shoulder, and semi-squared rim, brush-decorated with the initials, "W A," along with vertical tulip and plant motifs. Dotted cobalt decoration to rim and a single dot of cobalt to center of underside. William Amoss was the brother of Thomas Amoss of the well-known partnership of Morgan & Amoss operating about this time; his pottery was located on Liberty Street. Three shallow flakes to underside along bottom edge. H 6 3/8".
