Glazed Redware Jar, attributed to the Cain Pottery, Sullivan County, TN, circa 1840-1880, ovoid jar with footed base and semi-rounded rim, the shoulder decorated with incised wavy line decoration between two straight lines, the interior and exterior covered in a lead-and-manganese glaze. In her notes, Wahler comments, "Same potter as made the two cream pots of Marc's [Marcus King's] in the '96 exhibit. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee, 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing stacker marks to top of rim and a somewhat out-of-round rim. H 6".
