Very Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher, Stamped "T R WADDELL / Va," Alleghany County, Virginia, origin, mid 19th century, semi-ovoid pitcher with footed base and short collar with tooled rim, the surface covered in a salt glaze. Impressed with T.R. Waddell maker's mark on pitcher's side. The first pitcher by this potter that we have ever offered. Rim with wear and a few small chips. An in-the-firing ping to handle and base. A faint 4 1/2" line to underside. Light surface wear to midsection, front of spout, and base. H 9 3/4".
