Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Samuel Frayser, Henrico County, VA, circa 1821-1849, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and delicately-potted spout, brush-decorated across the front with a large horizontal floral motif featuring C-shaped swags. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A large inverted T-shaped crack extending from base to shoulder. Two in-the-firing recessed spots to shoulder. A few in-the-firing contact marks to surface. One spout chip. An inverted, Y-shaped in-the-firing surface crack to front. H 14 1/4".
