Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "ROCKBRIDGE," John Morgan, Rockbridge County, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened tab handles, and semi-squared rim, brush-decorated on the reverse with a stylized circle including leaves emanating from it. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. In-the-firing salt residue to base. A chip and in-the-firing nick to proper left handle. A few very minor base chips. A very minor rim chip. A 1 1/4" hairline from rim. A faint 5" inverted Y-shaped line to reverse. H 10".
