An estimate is an expected selling price for an item at auction. The price ranges for each lot are considered conservative in value, and are listed as a courtesy to our bidders to give them an idea of how much they may be expected to pay to win the item. It is entirely possible for an item to sell for less or more than the given estimate.
×Rare Pair of Decoupaged Redware Vases, attributed to Emanuel Suter, New Erection Pottery, near Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, VA, circa 1875, each of ovoid form with flared bases, tall collars with semi-squared rims, and ornately-molded handles, covered in later black paint with decoupaged designs. Literature: See Kaufman, Heatwole and Suter Pottery, p. 42, for a pair of related vases (one stamped), and p. 40 for a pitcher with the same handle. Both vases in excellent condition with losses to decoupage. Each include the erroneous inscription, "To Ann Curry / December 25th 1740" on the underside. H (of each) 12".
