Rare Pair of Decoupaged Redware Vases, attributed to Emanuel Suter, New Erection Pottery, near Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, VA, circa 1875, each of ovoid form with flared bases, tall collars with semi-squared rims, and ornately-molded handles, covered in later black paint with decoupaged designs. Literature: See Kaufman, Heatwole and Suter Pottery, p. 42, for a pair of related vases (one stamped), and p. 40 for a pitcher with the same handle. Both vases in excellent condition with losses to decoupage. Each include the erroneous inscription, "To Ann Curry / December 25th 1740" on the underside. H (of each) 12".
