Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Washington County, GA origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with arched lug handles and semi-squared rim, the surface covered in a mottled, dark-brown alkaline glaze. A 2" loss to one handle. A 1 1/2" flake to opposite handle. A 3 3/4" heavily-chipped area to rim. A few chips to interior of rim. A long, sealed horizontal crack at base. Traces of old, cream-colored paint to surface. H 15".
