Five-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to the Fox Family, possibly Himer Fox, Chatham County, NC, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with stepped, narrow mouth and two applied vertical handles at the shoulder, the surface covered in a salt glaze. Impressed "5" at shoulder. A network of long, faint lines to body of jar, likely in-the-firing. Small chips to interior of rim. Wear to bottom edge of jar. Exfoliation to underside. H 17 1/2".
