Five-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Southeastern U.S. origin, second half 19th century, highly-ovoid jar with flattened rim and arched lug handles, the surface covered in a streaky, olive-green alkaline glaze. Incised "5" on top of one handle. A few small base chips. Light exfoliation to underside. A 1/2" firing crack to rim. A small rim chip. A minor nick to one handle. Rim is slightly out-of-round. H 15 1/4".
