Two Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Plates, attributed to J.S. Penland, Buncombe County, NC, late 19th century, of two different sizes, featuring reddish-brown and dark-brown alkaline glazes. Smaller with some surface wear. Larger in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Diam. (of larger) 9 1/4".
