Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Catawba Valley, NC origin, probably Thomas Ritchie, Lincoln County, second half 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with ribbed handle and scalloped incising to shoulder, the surface covered in streaky olive-green alkaline glaze. Two adjacent reglued sections to spout. In-the-firing fissures to underside. Some in-the-firing clay residue to shoulder. Some minor traces of old bluish paint to surface. H 14".
