Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Brown Slip Floral Motif, attributed to the Whelchel Pottery, Gaffney, SC area, late 19th century, tapering jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, decorated in brown slip with a stenciled flower blossom against a cream-to-salmon alkaline-glazed ground. A shallow chip to top of rim. A drilled lamp wire hole at base. Traces of old paint to surface. H 11 1/2".
