Fletcher, Miles Mill, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1900, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, arched lug handles, and tall collar with flattened rim, the surface covered in a streaky, amber-colored alkaline glaze. Incised "4" at shoulder. Provenance: Purchased by Wahler at Southern Folk Pottery Collectors Society Auction, October 25, 2006, lot 301. Literature: A closely-related jar is illustrated in Baldwin, Great and Noble Jar, p. 110, fig. 4.18. A professionally-restored, approximately 3" x 3/4" wedge at rim. Professionally-restored handle chips. Sealed tight cracks to base area. Some exfoliation to interior base. Possible restoration to some exfoliation on underside. H 14 3/4".
