Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to Thomas Owenby, Union District, SC, circa 1860, highly-ovoid jar with flared rim and arched lug handles, the surface covered in a streaky green alkaline glaze. Provenance: The Georgeanna H. Greer Collection of Important American Stoneware, Harmer Rooke Galleries, New York, NY, January 13, 1993, lot 318. One rim chip. Some shallow in-the-firing chips to underside. H 8 3/4".
