Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Inscribed "HJM BB," Southern U.S. origin, second half 19th century, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, the surface covered in a matte-to-glossy olive alkaline glaze. Shoulder incised with the initials, "HJM BB" prior to firing. Jug was originally made with a handle. The handle was broken prior to firing with the damaged area smoothed over and glazed. Shallow chipping to base. An approximately 2 1/2" T-shaped line to shoulder area. H 11 3/4".
