Glazed Redware Open-Handled Jar, Eastern TN origin, circa 1810-1814, ovoid jar with footed base, two applied strap handles at the shoulder, incised sine wave decoration to shoulder, and vertically-flanged rim, the lead-glazed surface featuring mottled light-olive to orange coloration. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Provenance: In her notes, Wahler states, "Marc (King) bought this right after the '96 exhibit. Rare form made to hold dometop lid." A shallow base chip. Glaze wear to handles, rim, and body of jar. A shallow 1/2" chip to horizontal rim molding. H 7 3/4".
