Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, attributed to Evan Javan Brown, Arden, NC, second quarter 20th century, squat-shaped, ovoid jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including oval eyes set within pinched lids, C-scroll ears, Roman nose with carved nostrils, and open mouth with applied broken china teeth. Depressed treatment flanking the nose. Surface covered in a light-brown Albany slip glaze. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing contact mark to proper left side of jug. H 6".
