×Very Rare Stoneware Mug with Applied Stag's Head, Incised "New Ulm Jager Club," New Ulm, MN origin, fourth quarter 19th century, skillfully-potted mug with stepped pedestal base, ovoid body, and applied handle, the front with molded and applied stag's head. Cobalt highlights to stag's head and base, as well as to the incised inscription, "New Ulm / Jager Club". Handle with cobalt stripe decoration. Exceptional form and highly unusual applied decoration. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., November 3, 2012, lot 331. Two hairlines in handle, although handle is not reglued. Minor wear to rim. A few small base chips. H 4 1/2".
