Fine Small-Sized Stoneware Jug with Large Incised Bird Decoration, probably CT origin, first quarter 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a ring-necked bird with turned head and impressed asterisk eye, perched on a stylized leaf. Brushed highlights to handle terminals. Minor chipping to base, some of which is glazed over. A small spout chip. A few small in-the-firing contact marks to surface. Surface staining. H 9 1/4".
