Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "WARNE," Thomas Warne, South Amboy, NJ, early 19th century, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and slightly-flared rim, decorated with an impressed scalloped drape motif, highlighted in brown (likely iron) slip, below the maker's mark of Thomas Warne. This jar is one of only a few pieces that we have offered bearing the maker's mark, "WARNE," lacking any other impressed words or abbreviations. Very nice condition with a shallow 3/4" rim chip and some glaze drips to reverse and shoulder. A long, thin in-the-firing contact mark along bottom edge. H 10 3/4".
