Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a floral spray. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition. A glazed-over line extending through much of lower handle terminal. Some minor staining to surface. Minor residue to base on front. H 15 3/4".
