Two Iron-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Stamped "BOSTON," attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Boston, MA, early 19th century, a three-gallon ovoid jar with open loop handles, featuring dipped iron decoration to upper body and base; paired with a one-gallon jar with light iron dip to base, stamped "BOSTON" within a banner. Larger with some glaze spalling to proper left handle, a tight spider line to midsection on reverse, and traces of old blue and white paint to exterior and interior. Smaller with in-the-firing surface chips, surface and rim wear, nicks to exterior of rim and a chip to interior of rim, some minor base chips (a few of which are glazed over), a small restored hole at base, a piece of adhered clay at base, and surface staining. H 14 1/2".
