Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to the White's Pottery, Utica, NY, circa 1865, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout and wood-and-wire bail handle, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird "running" atop a stylized branch. Slip-trailed "4" above. Includes original tin lid and spout cover. Heavy chipping along handle at base on reverse. Some fry to cobalt. Light wear to applied clay ears. H (excluding lid) 9 1/2".
