Four Pieces of Multi-Glazed Redware, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, all decorated with cream-colored slip and splashes of copper and manganese under a clear lead glaze; a wall pocket with applied bird and floral motifs; a large flowerpot; a flare-rimmed cuspidor; and a spittoon. Wall pocket with restoration to handle and bird's upper body, rim chips (some restored), some restoration to shoulder area on reverse, a long crack on reverse, a base chip, and some small spots of glaze loss. Flowerpot with chips and wear to rim and saucer rim, a long crack from rim, two short lines from rim, some glaze loss to body, and a hole in underside. Cuspidor with a large Y-shaped crack to body extending to underside, two base chips (one of which is glazed over), a 2 3/4" crack from rim, and small rim chips. Spittoon with losses to base, additional chips and wear to base, wear to opening at shoulder, and a few small spots of glaze loss to surface H (of tallest) 9 3/4".
