Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jars, Western PA and WV origin, circa 1880, a tapering canning jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, faintly-decorated with five alternating straight and wavy freehand stripes, Western PA origin; paired with a tapering jar with semi-squared "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled maker's mark, "A. CONRAD / SHINNSTON. / W. VA." Shorter jar with heavy chipping around interior of rim, a small chip to inner wax sealer rim, and a 5" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on side of jar. Taller jar with a few short, thin lines from rim, chips to interior of rim, chipping around inner rim for lid, small base chips, and Albany slip drips to front. H (of shorter) 9 3 1/6".
