Two Stripe-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jars, Western PA origin, circa 1880, each of cylindrical form with tooled shoulders and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rims, decorated with four freehand stripes. Smaller with in-the-firing residue to base, some in-the-firing dryness to shoulder area, chipping to interior of rim, and a few small chips to inner rim for lid. Larger in excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing ping at base on reverse and a minor in-the-firing stacker mark to top of rim. H (of smaller) 8 3/8".
