Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. SWANK & CO. / JOHNSTOWN, PA.," circa 1875, ovoid jar with wide, flattened rim and wedge-shaped handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a sweeping stem bearing graduated leaves and two tulip blossoms. Stylized floral motifs to handle terminals. Dashes below one handle; maker's mark and three-gallon capacity mark below opposing handle. A few rim chips. Some fry to cobalt. An approximately 3" hairline from rim. H 12".
