Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a stem bearing two large leaves, a hanging flower, and two looping vines, accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Some restoration to rim and small unrestored rim chips. Small chips to molding below rim. A small chip to proper left handle. A 2" hairline from rim. Staining to surface. Horizontal in-the-firing surface fissures to base, not visible on interior. H 9 7/8".
